The trapped wild life within a man-made object represents the entrapment of Freedom. The tension between man-made and organic is the irony of life and death. The chair seat which is close to one’s genitals has been raptured by a force in order to show the violence perpetrated against women.
The vulture devouring its prey brings into focus the real meaning of life and death, both literally and emotionally. The vulture animal spirit has an uncanny ability to locate death and feed itself from death. It also symbolises life and rebirth which could represent the female body and the moment of birth and life being brought to this world.

Why the Bed?
It is our very own private space where we escape to either for comfort or to face our demons. It is a place of intimacy that can nevertheless be violated. A place that hides many untold stories of shame, blame and violence.
Wine represents the act of committing a sin in Islam, such as that of a muslim woman, who no longer is a virgin upon getting married.
Black ink is used in traditional calligraphy specially writing verses from the Holy Book.
An allegory of the tensions between our beliefs and secret doubts, as what is done to women in many cultures in the name of religion could be their own individual interpretation of that religion.
